MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Menasha are asking for the public’s help in identifying two individuals accused of destroying over $1,000 worth of fishing equipment belonging to three young anglers.
The incident happened along the Trestle Trail near the Menasha Locks. According to the victims, they were fishing when two unknown individuals approached and, without provocation, threw multiple tackle boxes and fishing rods into the water.

“They came up and threw our gear in the water for no reason,” said one of the young anglers. “Everything we needed was in that tackle box.”
Police say the suspects fled on foot along nearby railroad tracks. A search was conducted but the individuals were not located.
“This wasn’t a misunderstanding or a case of theft—it was a deliberate act,” said Officer Kate Lynch, who is leading the investigation. “These young people saved up for that gear. To have it destroyed for no reason isn’t just frustrating—it’s personal. We’re hoping someone in the community can help us bring accountability and make it right.”
