(WFRV) – In the team’s first trip to the state tournament, the #3 Seymour baseball program advanced to the DII title game with a 5-2 semifinal win over #2 Aquinas.
The Thunder were powered on the mound by junior Xavier Salzman’s one-hit outing that lasted five innings before senior Colten Nieland secured the save.

Salzman pitched well and drove in two runs, along with Nieland going 3-3 on the afternoon. Carson Staffeldt, Micah Byers, and Brady Poch also contributed offensively, driving in a run each.
Seymour will play for the program’s first title in the DII State Championship game on Thursday, June 19, at approximately 3:00 p.m. The Thunder will take on the top-seed New Berlin Eisenhower.
