(WFRV) – With the summer season finally here and warm temperatures expected for the weekend, officials at ThedaCare are providing tips on how to stay safe while out swimming.

ThedaCare officials say pool and water safety is of great importance, and one of the best ways to stay safe is to have an adult not only keep their eyes on their kids at all times, but to also get in the water with the kids, as drowning is something that can happen quickly and silently.
For people who do the open water swimming, they’re out swimming in the lake, we encourage these floatations buoys, they’re orange and they float behind you on a 4 foot tether and you can swim and enjoy your self with the motorboats and people can see you.

When open water swimming, the doctor added that it is important for the swimmer to make sure they can be seen by others.
Dr. Sletten also said to get and use ear drops as a way to prevent anyone from getting ‘swimmers’ ear.’
