NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – Through the mixture of comedy and education, Neenah police officers are reminding residents to lock their car doors overnight.
The Neenah Police Department posted on Facebook with Assistant Chief Jeff Bernice and Community Policing Coordinator Joe Benoit dressed as old-school ‘merry marauders’ with signs standing on the sidewalks of the city.

The comedic-style crime prevention campaign is part of their efforts to fight a recent increase in thefts from vehicles.
“Since Memorial Day weekend, Neenah has seen a noticeable rise in thefts from unlocked cars, particularly overnight and in residential neighborhoods,” the post said.

Assistant Chief Bernice and Officer Benoit are posing as old-school comic thieves while holding up signs to jokingly thank community members for leaving their cars unlocked. The campaign continues until around 4:40 p.m. throughout the city.
