JANESVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – Arrest warrants have been issued for two individuals accused of conspiring to create and use poison in an attempt to murder two women with whom one of the suspects had previously been involved.
On May 12, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible poisoning at St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville. After weeks of investigation, authorities say they uncovered a plot involving the intentional use of toxic substances to harm two separate victims.

According to officials, Paul D. VanDuyne Jr. and Andrea L. Whitaker conspired to gather or create elaborate poisons with the intent of using them to kill the women, both of whom had past relationships with VanDuyne Jr.
Following a coordinated investigation with local, state, and federal law enforcement, both VanDuyne Jr. and Whitaker were charged with multiple felonies:
- Three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, as a party to a crime, with use of a dangerous weapon
- Aggravated battery, as a party to a crime, with use of a dangerous weapon
- First-degree recklessly endangering safety, as a party to a crime, with use of a dangerous weapon
- Stalking resulting in bodily harm, as a party to a crime, with use of a dangerous weapon

Both suspects are currently in custody at the Dane County Jail and are expected to appear in Rock County court at a future date.
