The Latest from Storm Team 5…
Good morning! Our first day of summer yesterday felt like the new season, and that will continue once again today. Plan on full sunshine, with high temperatures in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. A few record high temperatures are in play today!
A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect for today in all of northeast Wisconsin now as dew points will spike into the low to mid 70s, pushing heat index values into the 100-105 degree range. Stay cool, hydrated and check in on relatives. If the pavement is too hot for your hand, its too hot for your dogs paws too!
If you are heading to the beach or out on the water, just know a S/SW wind between 15-25 kts will kick up a choppy 3-5ft swell and the potential for dangerous rip currents. A BEACH HAZARD STATEMENT and SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY are in effect through Monday at 7pm.
Tomorrow, will be day three of the heat wave with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s and heat index values peaking in the upper 90s and low 100s.
For the late afternoon and evening, a cold front will start to break up the heat, but it spark scattered showers and storms, some of which could be strong. Damaging winds, hail and downpours are the main threats there.
Much cooler weather with rain and storm chances for mid week. Looking ahead to the weekend, while it wont get as hot, the high humidity levels will return.
