OAK GROVE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 25-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after being involved in a crash with a runaway horse early Monday morning.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly before 4 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 26 and County Highway A in the town of Oak Grove.

The driver, Abimael Torres Avendano of Fort Atkinson, was arrested for first-offense OWI and cited for operating without a valid driver’s license.
The owner of the horse, 60-year-old Laura St. John of rural Juneau, will receive a citation for allowing the horse to be at large in the roadway.

Officials say the horse died from injuries sustained in the crash. No injuries were reported to the driver or his two passengers.
