WITTENBERG, Wis. (WFRV) – Two women were injured on Sunday and needed to be airlifted after a crash in Shawano County.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, on June 22, around 3:30 p.m., multiple 911 calls came in reporting a crash near the overpass of County Road Q and State Highway 29 in Wittenberg. It was initially reported that two people were inside the vehicle, and both were ejected.
When authorities got to the scene, they immediately tried to remove one person who was pinned under the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. The two people were airlifted to hospitals.

The press release says the vehicle left the roadway, descended a hill, crossed all four lanes of Highway 29, became airborne and rolled multiple times before ending up in a ditch.
The driver was identified as a 45-year-old woman, and the passenger was a 20-year-old woman.
The crash is still under investigation and no additional information was provided.
