(WFRV) – A new study from WalletHub provided an analysis on the states where people are the ‘most diligent’ with credit, from managing debts responsibly to keeping an eye on their reports, and Wisconsinites fared quite well.
WalletHub’s study showed that Wisconsinites finished No. 11 out of the 50 states in terms of being the most diligent in their credit, with a score of 68.20, just .02 outside of the top 10. Washington ranked ahead of Wisconsin by just .01.

Out of the states in the Midwest, Wisconsin would be at No. 2, as Iowans finished at the second overall spot in the entire study, with a score of 76.17. These scores are out of 100.
The scoring breakdown from WalletHub is as follows:
- Percentage of customers with collections tradelines in the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for roughly 30.77 out of 100 points
- Percentage of frozen credit reports in the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for about 15.38 points out of 100
- Percentage of customers who have missed payments in the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for about 15.38 points out of 100
- Percentage of customers with active bankruptcies in the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for about 15.38 points out of 100
- Percentage of customers with foreclosures in the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for about 15.38 points out of 100
- Percentage of customers who have filed a dispute in either the fourth quarter of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025 – accounts for roughly 7.69 points out of 100
