ALGOMA, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials with the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that this year’s theme for the 2025 Shanty Day celebration is “Where Legends R’ Reel.”
According to a release, this year’s theme is meant to pay tribute to the proud fishing heritage present throughout Algoma as well as a nod to the City’s rich maritime past, the people who made it legendary, and the “memories that continue to reel us back in year after year.”

The community is said to be invited to reflect on the stories, traditions, and legends that helped shape the city, and, as always, officials say the beloved Shanty Days Parade will begin at noon and express the theme through creative floats, colorful costumes, and dynamic displays.
Everyone from a first-time visitor to a longtime Algoma resident is invited to be a part of the iconic summer tradition that will include cars, fishing, running, beach volleyball, unique vendors for shopping, and live music on the lakefront.
Shanty Days is said to be more than an event; it is “a celebration of community, culture, and connection,” and it takes place from August 8 through August 10 in downtown Algoma.
