EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin announced that two adult men were arrested after a long investigation into alleged child sexual assaults over several years.
The Eau Claire Police Department announced that the months-long investigation resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old James Barbey and 82-year-old Robert Karstensen, both from Eau Claire.
According to the release, several victims came forward with more identified during interviews. Barbey and Karstensen were reportedly neighbors, and the alleged assaults occurred to multiple victims over several years.
Barbey was charged with the following:
- First-degree sexual assault of a child under 13
- Two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 12
- Two counts of incest
- Exposure of genitalia/public area
Karstensen’s charges are further, as listed:
- Three counts of repeated sexual assault of a child
- First-degree sexual assault of a child under 13
- First-degree sexual assault of a child under 12
- Three counts of child enticement
- Exposing a child to harmful material
- Two counts of exposing genitalia
