BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin are warning residents on Wednesday morning of an ongoing natural gas supply issue.
According to a release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, the issue could potentially be dangerous and is affecting the areas between the Cities of Rice Lake and Haugen.
With resident safety in mind, officials say any residents in the affected area should take the following precautions:
- If someone’s carbon monoxide alarm is sounding and they are experiencing symptoms of illness, they should leave the area immediately and dial 9-1-1.
- If someone’s carbon monoxide alarm is sounding but they are not feeling ill, they should still leave the area immediately and call the Barron County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line at 715-537-3106.
As officials work to fix the issue, they are asking residents of the affected areas to make sure their carbon monoxide alarm functions properly, turn off all natural gas appliances and ventilate their home by opening the windows, and do not use any natural gas appliances until further notice.
