LEROY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 19-year-old from Waupun was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash with a semi on STH 49 during thick fog conditions in central Wisconsin early Thursday morning.
Deputies with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office say they were called to the intersection of State Highway 49 at Dairy Road in the Town of Leroy around 6:30 a.m. on June 26.

Based on an initial investigation, authorities say the crash involved a semi pulling a tanker trailer and a BMW sedan. Leading up to the crash, the semi, which was northbound on Dairy Road, continued across STH 49 after stopping at the stop sign.
Deputies say the eastbound BMW crashed into the tanker trailer at the intersection.
It was noted in the release that the area was covered with thick fog at the time, which reduced visibility “to less than one quarter of a mile.”

The driver of the BMW, a 19-year-old man from Waupun, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team. No additional information was provided.
