FITCHBURG, Wis. (WFRV) – A man was found unresponsive in a Wisconsin parking lot about 30 minutes after an initial crash report came in, where he was pronounced dead.
The Fitchburg Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to an intersection on June 22 at approximately 7:40 p.m. on a report of a single-vehicle crash at Fish Hatchery Road and Greenway Cross.

Officers found an SUV that had hit a traffic light in the median; however, nobody was inside the vehicle, as the driver reportedly fled the scene.
About a half-hour after the initial report, the Madison Police and Fire Departments were sent to the scene of a separate incident involving an unresponsive man in a parking lot a few blocks from the crash.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after life-saving efforts failed, and officers confirmed that the 27-year-old Fitchburg man was the driver. He is believed to have been the only occupant of the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, with no further details available at this time.
