MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 22-year-old Milwaukee man has been formally charged in the shooting of two Milwaukee police officers, one of whom died from his injuries.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office announced charges Tuesday against Tremaine D. Jones in connection with the June 26 shooting that killed Officer Kendall Corder and injured another officer.

According to investigators, Corder and his partner were responding to a report of a subject with a weapon shortly after 9:15 p.m. in the area of North 25th Street and West Garfield Avenue. As they approached the scene, the officers were ambushed in an alley near the 2200 block of North 24th Place and were unable to return fire.
Corder was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he later died. The second officer, a 29-year-old with more than six years of service, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
Jones faces the following charges:
- First-degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon
- Attempted first-degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon
- First-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon
If convicted, he faces life in prison plus 77.5 years and fines up to $25,000.

Jones made his initial court appearance on Tuesday, where a judge set his cash bond at $500,000. He is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 9 at 1:30 p.m.
