APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Firefighters responded to a fire in Appleton on July 6, finding smoke and flames in a residence.
According to the Appleton Fire Department, on July 6, around 8:20 p.m., crews were sent to a reported fire in the 1200 block of South Herbert Street. Officials say the first call said there were smoke and flames inside the residence, with one person still inside the residence.
When crews got to the scene, they found ‘light’ smoke at the doorway, and the resident was out of the house.

Crews went into the residence to see that the fire was out. The release said the resident had minor burns but did not require medical attention.
Damage to the building and contents was estimated to be around $20,000 and firefighters are working to find out what caused it.
