MELLEN, Wis. (WFRV) – One northern Wisconsin campground cracked the Top 10 in a recent national ranking of the 2025 Best Places to Camp.
On July 8, The Dyrt, the largest source of information for campgrounds throughout the United States, announced its 2025 Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S., and a campground in Ashland County, Wisconsin, made the cut.
Coming in at number 10 was Copper Falls State Park Campground in Mellen. The Dyrt compiled the rankings based on reviews and ratings from its vast community of campers.

With tens of thousands of campgrounds across America, ranking at number 10 is sure to make officials at Copper Falls State Park Campground a ‘happy camper.’
Nine states were represented in The Dyrt’s Top 10 of 2025, including two sites in Colorado, Arizona, California, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The list described Copper Falls State Park Campground as a “serene and scenic camping experience amidst towering pines and hardwoods.” Copper Falls features two campgrounds with a total of 55 sites, both electric and non-electric sites.

All sites come equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails, fishing on Loon Lake and nearby rivers, and exploring the park’s gorgeous waterfalls.

- Lost Lake Campground – Gunnison National Forest – Paonia, Colorado
- Sandy Springs Campground – Stout, Ohio
- Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Campground – Two Harbors, Minnesota
- Alabama Hills Recreation Area – Lone Pine, California
- The Wall – Wall, South Dakota
- North Rim Campground – Grand Canyon National Park – North Rim, Arizona
- White Star Campground – Pike-San Isabel National Forest – Twin Lakes, Colorado
- Scoria Pit – Medora, North Dakota
- Town Hall Road – White Mountain National Forest – Chatham, New Hampshire
- Copper Falls State Park Campground – Mellen, Wisconsin
