OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities with the Oshkosh Police Department have provided an update on the deadly stabbing that followed a large fight at Menominee Park over the weekend.
According to a release, officers identified the victim as 27-year-old Oshkosh resident Walter Brooks.
The stabbing happened inside Menominee Park in the 1200 block of East Irving Avenue in Oshkosh around 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.

The investigation initially began when officers were called to a crash in the 900 block of East Irving Avenue, where they found Brooks with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed a fight taking place between ‘several’ people who were at Menominee Park. Officers say that is when the fight escalated, leading to Brooks being stabbed.
The Fond du Lac Police Department later helped to arrest a 19-year-old man from Fond du Lac for first-degree intentional homicide.
