BRILLION, Wis. (WFRV) – A suspected impaired driver crashed into a Calumet County Sheriff’s Office squad car early Wednesday morning, causing the squad to be rear-ended.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on State Highway 57 near County Highway K in the Town of Brillion. A deputy was conducting a traffic stop when their patrol vehicle was struck from behind by another vehicle, which rolled over after the impact.
Deputies say the driver of the striking vehicle showed signs of impairment and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury.
The deputy suffered minor injuries and is expected to return to duty following a brief recovery.
