MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – The St. Boniface church in Manitowoc is set to be closed, with planning underway, after a ruling from the Apostolic Signatura.
According to a release from the Diocese of Green Bay, Bishop David Ricken granted permission in January 2023 for the church to close after years of discussion; however, an appeal was filed in the summer of 2024.

That appeal affirmed the decision to close the church, and a final appeal was made to the Apostolic Signatura, referred to as the Supreme Court of the Catholic Church.
According to the release, that appeal once again affirmed Bishop Ricken’s decision to close the Church of Saint Boniface.
No details on the procedures have been provided, as plans are reportedly being made for the closure.
