DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Door County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to respect construction employees and work zones after about 20 safety cones were reported missing by Michel’s Construction.
According to the release, the company has reported about 20 cones missing from various work zones in the past several weeks, with about half of them disappearing over the past weekend.

The majority of the missing cones have reportedly been taken from an area around Idlewild Road and County Road H/O.
“These cones serve an important purpose; they are crucial safety tools that help identify the locations of pipes and other hazards on the side of the road,” the release said. “The removal of these cones poses serious safety risks for both motorists and construction crews.”

The release urged people to respect work zones and refrain from tampering with safety equipment, while asking people who come across any information to speak up and contact authorities.
