WAUTOMA, Wis. (WFRV) – Heavy storms rolling through the area have caused widespread flooding in Wautoma, prompting travel delays and road closures.
According to the Wautoma Police Department, most city roads are flooded, and some vehicles are reportedly stuck in high water.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible until floodwaters recede. Storms are continuing to move through northeast Wisconsin.
In a release from Wautoma Police Chief Paul Mott, he cited that State Highways 21 and 73 were closed around 4:20 p.m. up until roughly 5:03 p.m. as vehicles became stalled in the floodwaters.
“Wautoma Fire Chief Grenier stated this was the worst flooding he’s seen since 2001,” Chief Paul Mott said in the release.
Local 5 was on the scene and will continue to provide updates as needed.
