IOWA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 23-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested after a police pursuit in Nebraska revealed that the body of a previously reported missing woman was inside.
The Dodgeville Police Department and the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office are working together on the investigation after 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht of Dodgeville was reported missing on July 15.
According to a release from Iowa County, officials in Nebraska spotted a vehicle on July 16 shortly before 2 a.m. that positively matched the vehicle description in the missing persons report.
The driver was not Segebrecht, but was later identified as a 23-year-old Dodgeville man named Gavin Thompson, who was subsequently arrested and in custody in Nebraska. The body of a woman was recovered in the vehicle and was officially confirmed by officials to be Segebrecht.

Charges against Thompson will be filed by the Iowa County District Attorney’s Office, including first-degree intentional homicide, burglary with a dangerous weapon, hiding a corpse and operating a motor vehicle without owner consent.
No additional details are available. A press conference regarding the situation will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday.
