GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Brown County Jail and select inmates have been hard at work on its ‘Jail Garden,’ showing significant growth within the program’s second year.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office posted an update via its Facebook page, saying that the Brown County Community Garden started planting vegetables and herbs in the jail’s courtyard last year.
Various inmates were selected to participate in the ‘Jail Garden’ program and have planted lettuce, potatoes, peas, beans, tomatoes, cilantro, lavender, green peppers, jalapenos, basil, lemon leaf, watermelon, cabbage, arugula, cucumbers, and zucchini.

Officials also noted the significant growth of the program since its inception in Spring 2024.
So far, the program has donated peas, basil, cilantro, lavender, lemon leaf, and lettuce to Paul’s Pantry.
