Officers noted that, based on an initial investigation and witness accounts, no foul play is suspected. It was also said that the teen was swimming with a group of friends in a non-designated area of the quarry.
The Sheboygan Police Department then touched on the “false and misleading information” circulating on social media.
“Unfortunately, this misinformation has contributed to heightened emotions and the exchange of threats among community members online. Our department has taken these matters seriously, and we have already investigated one such threat that led to an arrest,” the release states.
