SUAMICO, Wis. (WFRV) – The Village of Suamico and the Historic Preservation Commission gathered downtown on Thursday evening to unveil a new artifact to honor the area’s history.
The new ‘Historical Map’ was created to honor 28 significant sites throughout Suamico, connecting the present with lessons and messages from the past.
The ceremony showcased the map with remarks to discuss how the map won’t just be any map, as it was designed to be a look at how the past shaped the present, with details on site impacts.
The unveiling was free for all to attend, and the full event was a long-term effort between Village officials and support from the Howard-Suamico Historical Society.
The historical sign is permanently located in Historic Downtown Suamico for anybody to look at and learn about the past.
