Today was an exciting day for Katie LeGeorge, she graduated.
LeGeorge served in the US Air Force from 2002- 2006 as an interventional radiology technologist. After her time serving she fell into addiction.
Instead of going to jail, she found a different solution. A solution that she wouldn’t have had if he was not a veteran.

LeGeorge said after she moved back home she struggled, “I was kinda in the wrong place at the wrong time. I had a lot of life events happening at the same time and I was struggling.”
That’s when she saw a sign at the Brown County Jail, “It was the light at the end of the tunnel because I didn’t know this program existed, until there was a bulletin on the inside of the Brown County Jail, and the way the treatment court responded was just instantaneous.”
Brown County Treatment Court offers rehabilitation programs for veterans, led by mentors, with the goal to assimilate back into their life. It is a rigorous two year program, but the results were seen today.
It has been around for more than a decade, but today, it also received a new name: The Thomas Hintz Treatment Court.

The name is in honor of the former Brown County sheriff who passed away earlier this year.
Because LeGeorge got sober, she is able to be with her daughters again, and they are brought by her. Her daughter Sadie said, “ I can tell that she is taking a large step in her life, and I’m proud because things are getting better.”
For LeGeorge and the two others that graduated today, Veterans Court is not just a program, but a second chance to reconnect with what was lost.
