DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – The City of De Pere Water Department has teamed up with Faith Leak Detection to begin a four-year hydrant painting project.
According to a Facebook post, this summer, crews will focus on the northeast quarter of the city, working from Black Earth & East River Drive west to North Broadway, and from Lebrun south to Chicago Street.

Work is currently underway in the East River and Charles Street area and will continue moving west and south.
The process includes sandblasting, priming, and painting hydrants hazard yellow. The hydrant caps will be painted blue, green, orange, or red, each color indicating water flow volume for emergency responders.
Residents are reminded to keep at least five feet of clearance around fire hydrants, as required by City Ordinance Sec. 58-8, to allow crews to work safely.
