The Latest from Storm Team 5…
Good morning! A cold front dropped through the area, leading to a clear and quiet start to our day. As we head into the afternoon, while we should stay dry, this front will drag in some near-surface wildfire smoke. We do not have any air quality alerts at the moment, but I will still take notice of the smoke today if you are sensitive to it.
Highs today, I am expecting them to be in the mid-70s lakeside, upper 70s to around 80 away from Lake Michigan. Dew points will remain in the comfy category today of the mid 50s!
Tonight, mostly clear skies with areas of smoke lingering about. Low temperatures in the low to mid-50s.
Tomorrow is a big day in northeast Wisconsin, the beginning of Air Venture in Oshkosh! Some smoke might linger around day break, but skies should be mostly sunny with highs in the middle to upper 70s. Dew points once again remain comfy in the middle 50s.
Then we are expecting what is called a ‘Ring of Fire’ Pattern, so set up. Surface high pressure sets up to our south, steering in the heat and humidity. Meanwhile, the storm track sets up to the north of this surface high.
Most of Tuesday looks quiet, just warm and humid, with rain and storms holding off until Wednesday and Thursday. With highs close to 90 degrees Wednesday and Thursday and dew points in the mid 70s, it will feel like the upper 90s to low triple digits. Storms could be strong to possibly severe with those ingredients in place, so check back mid week.
