GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – An overnight attic fire on Green Bay’s east side has left four people and multiple pets without a home for the time being.
According to a release from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews responded at 1:38 a.m. Monday morning for a reported fire at a two-story home on 1227 Stuart Street.
Once on scene, officials say firefighters could see light to heavy smoke coming from the roof and attic on the rear and right side of the home.

Crews entered the home and fought heavy smoke and high heat in the attic and knee walls, bringing the fire under control within 20 minutes of their arrival. They remained on scene for over an hour conducting overhaul, ventilation, air monitoring, and ensuring there were no remaining hot spots.
Residents of the home were said to have evacuated before the arrival of firefighters, and multiple animals were found unhurt inside the home.
No one was hurt in the incident but the fire did cause and estimated $75,000 in damages. The Fire Marshal’s office has remained on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
The four people left without a home following the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
