The Latest from Storm Team 5…
The heat and humidity returned to the air today, but at least we did end up remaining completely dry.
For tonight, expect clear to partly cloudy skies with a warm and muggy night as lows only reach the upper 60s and low 70s. Rain should hold off until daybreak.
A warm front will lift into the state tomorrow morning, bringing a chance for a few non severe storms during the morning hours. For Packers Training camp tomorrow, have the rain jacket handy, but if the rain stays away, it will be warm and humid.
Highs in the afternoon will reach the upper 80s and low 90s away from Lake Michigan, low 80s lakeside. With dew points in the mid 70s, heat index values will push the upper 90s to around 100. A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect from 11am until 8pm Wednesday. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you are working outside.
Then a cold front will cut into this hot and humid airmass, sparking a line of showers and storms across the Northwoods for the late afternoon, but more so for the evening. Main threats will eb damaging winds, downpours and lightning. Tornado threat is low but non zero. Storms should weaken as then push south, coming to an end before midnight.
This front will get held up, which will bring a chance for some scattered showers and storms on Thursday. A storm or two could be strong, but the severe threat is not looking that high.
