OAKFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) – Following a head-on crash in Fond du Lac County that left one person dead and another seriously hurt, the sheriff’s office says they have identified those involved.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, 81-year-old Mary Naggatz was pronounced dead at the scene following a head-on collision at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday on US Highway 151 near Thill Road in the Town of Oakfield.
Authorities say Naggatz was heading south on US Highway 151 when she likely suffered a medical emergency, causing her to cross the median, enter the northbound lanes, and crash into another vehicle head-on.
Semi-truck crashes into ditch in Fond du Lac County, driver seriously hurt
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the head-on crash, 58-year-old Daniel Sturm from Neenah, suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment.
In an attempt to avoid the crash, officials say Strum sideswiped another northbound vehicle. Those in the third vehicle were said not to be hurt.
No other information is available at this time, and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
