APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Chick-fil-A Appleton is giving away free original chicken sandwiches for lunch on Wednesday afternoon, and while that may sound like a dream, for some, it’s turned into a nightmare.
Announced in a release last week, as part of its “Summer of Drive-Thru,” Chick-fil-A Appleton officials said they would be giving out free original chicken sandwiches on Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with no purchase, mobile order, or app order necessary.

It would seem many people were excited to get their hands on free chicken, as the Grand Chute Police Department has reported that the giveaway is causing traffic delays.
Officers say the delays are being experienced on West College Avenue and on Interstate 41. Police are said to be in the area monitoring and assisting with traffic.
Those who are not attending the Chick-fil-A event should consider taking an alternative route to their destination.
