RACINE, Wis. (WFRV) – One woman from southern Wisconsin is in the hospital after being shot multiple times Tuesday morning, with the suspect of the shooting being found hurt in a home following a standoff.
According to a release from the Racine Police Department, officers responded at 11:03 a.m. on July 22 to a home on the 1100 block of Reschke Avenue for reports that someone had been shot.

Responding officials first on the scene say they found a 48-year-old woman who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital before being transferred via Flight for Life to receive further treatment due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The suspect in the shooting, a 51-year-old man, fled back into the Racine home, leading to a standoff where Police Crisis Negotiators contacted the man throughout the incident, encouraging him to surrender.
At 6:30 p.m., authorities say the Racine Police Department’s SWAT team entered the home and found the suspect with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was also taken to the hospital before being transferred via Flight for Life due to the severity of his injuries.
