(WFRV) – Deputies on Wednesday say they spotted and rescued a bald eagle that appeared to be injured and was sitting on the side of a highway.

In a social media post from the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office, officials reported finding the bird on the highway “looking less like the symbol of freedom and more like it took a wrong turn and ran out of luck.”
Being careful not to startle the eagle, deputies say they used some delicate handling to carefully rescue the bird from the highway and take it to a raptor rehab center, where it is expected to rest and get top-tier care.
Here’s hoping it bounces back soon and gets back to showing us who’s really boss of the skies.
