GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The most storied franchise in the NFL is taking it back to the 1920s with a new uniform, complete with a helmet inspired by the Green Bay Packers’ original leather headwear.
On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers unveiled an alternate uniform that will be debuted at Lambeau Field this fall. The jerseys honor the team’s history and are a nod to Green Bay’s first season as a publicly owned corporation.

The uniform, dubbed ‘the 1923 Classic,’ is paired with a hand-painted helmet designed to look like the franchise’s original leather headwear.

The helmets are paired with a navy blue jersey with dark gold numbers and dark gold stripes, with tan pants, and navy socks, inspired by the Packers’ 1923 look.

An original description of the jerseys in 1923 by the Green Bay Press-Gazette read, “The Bay eleven resplendent in their new jerseys, dark blue with gold striped arms, made an imposing appearance.”
