MERRIL, Wis. (WFRV) – An 11-year-old girl is dead after falling off the back of a boat while out on the waters of a Wisconsin lake Sunday afternoon, authorities say.
According to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, multiple agencies responded at 3:28 p.m. after the Lincoln County Dispatch Center received a call that an 11-year-old girl had fallen out of a boat on Lake Alexander and was missing underwater.
Dive teams from Lincoln County, Oneida County, and Marathon County responded as a search for the girl began immediately.

The Merrill Fire Department was said to have used sonar to locate the missing girl, with dive teams recovering her body from the water at 7:03 p.m.
The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld out of respect for the victim’s family.
