(WFRV) – A landlord in Green Bay was sued by the Justice Department for alleged sexual harassment and violating the Fair Housing Act.
According to a release from the Department of Justice, the United States filed a civil complaint alleging that David Jones and D Jones Properties LLC discriminated on the basis of sex. Which allegedly violates the Fair Housing Act (FHA).
The release says Jones manages multiple rental properties in the Green Bay area. The complaint claims Jones engaged in ‘severe, pervasive and unwelcome’ sexual harassment of a female tenant.

It is alleged that Jones made unwelcome sexual comments towards the woman, grabbed her without consent, entered her home without permission, and took adverse housing-related actions against her when she asserted her rights under the FHA.
The lawsuit is looking for monetary damages to compensate those harmed by the alleged harassment and a court order barring future discrimination.
Officials ask anyone who think they may have been victims of sexual harassment or other types of housing discrimination at rental properties owned or managed by jones to call 414-297-4516 or email Nia.Schmaltz@usdoj.gov.
No one should be forced to choose between safe housing and their right to live free from sexual harassment. The Department of Justice is committed to vigorously enforcing fair housing protections and holding housing providers accountable when they exploit their power over tenants.
