WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. (WFRV) – More than 100 golfers gathered at the Royal St. Patrick Golf Links in Wrightstown for a day on the course with a purpose — raising money to support veterans and their families through the nonprofit The Spine Project.
The “Golf Fore a Vet” outing, now in its fifth year, was organized by Dr. Julie Wyss, who co-founded The Spine Project in 2008 after opening a chiropractic clinic next to the VA hospital in Green Bay.
“We would have veterans walking into our clinic looking for additional help because they were getting sent home with boxes of medications which weren’t helping them,” Wyss said.
Proceeds from the event go toward providing chiropractic care, mental health support, rehabilitation, and other services for veterans — with 100% of the funds going directly to care.

“This year, we have a full fleet of golfers — 30 teams, 120 people — all here to support our cause,” Wyss said. “It means the world to our golfers, our tournament sponsors, our title sponsors, and everyone who has donated.”
Among those participating was retired service member Bill Recka, who came at the invitation of a fellow veteran.
“My friend Cody invited me — he was my gunner in Iraq,” Recka said. “It’s nice to have a community of veterans… everyone gets together, starts talking about old times. It’s really relaxing.”
