NEW LONDON, Wis. (WFRV) – Summer school at New London Middle School looked different this year; they hosted a Kindness Class.
To celebrate their last week of classes, students in the class planned and initiated a free lemonade stand to simply spread joy in the community.

“We wanted to spread kindness through the community, and giving some goodies would be fun,” seventh grader Lila Tennie said.
In addition to giving out lemonade, students also handed out free homemade gifts, including worry stones, positive messages, shrinky dinks and bookmarks.
New London Middle School Principal Ann Pinch said that providing happiness for others provides happiness for the students.
“We all know that when you are thinking about others, you are filling your bucket and theirs as well,” Principal Pinch said.
The students accepted donations for their B.E.S.T. Club, which continues the class’s mission to keep spreading kindness.
The club is a place for students to continue building a community and spreading kindness while making more connections.
When someone donated, the students pressed a button and celebrated with a mini dance party, unanimously breaking out their best moves.

As the new school year approaches, Principal Pinch hopes the students carry on the lessons they learned this summer, that everyone matters.
“They matter, everyone matters, and the more we can build a community that feels supported by each other, not only will our community be better, but the world can be [too],” Principal Pinch said.
