The release said that officials believe Maisy suddenly lost consciousness due to Carbon Monoxide Toxicity, causing her to fall out of the boat. Preliminary findings indicated that Carbon Monoxide Toxicity was a likely contributor following the autopsy.
Three others in the same boat were treated for Carbon Monoxide Toxicity and are in stable condition. They are expected to fully recover.

“Although it is not a common event, there are numerous documented incidents of boats moving at slow speeds for extended periods, allowing Carbon Monoxide to build up in and around a watercraft,” the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials say there doesn’t appear to be any foul play involved.
