MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WFRV) – A routine traffic stop Monday night on U.S. Highway 151 in Wisconsin resulted in the arrest of two women and the discovery of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle near Mile Marker 40 for an illegal lane change and equipment violations. During the stop, the occupants – identified as Nicole A. Ruch, 44, and Amy G. Ortiz, 41, both of Platteville – reportedly exhibited suspicious behavior.

A consent search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and illegal narcotics. Deputies say Ortiz was found to be concealing approximately 2.25 ounces of methamphetamine in her clothing.

Additional items recovered included 4.2 ounces of cocaine, 11 Vyvanse capsules (a Schedule II controlled substance), and drug paraphernalia commonly used to manufacture and store meth.

Both women were arrested without further incident and booked into the Iowa County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. Authorities say both have previous drug convictions, and Ortiz was also found to have an open criminal case in Lafayette County.
