CALEDONIA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 23-year-old man was arrested for OWI after he crashed through a southeastern Wisconsin elementary school and caused significant damage to the building and multiple classrooms.
The incident began around 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, when a person reported seeing vehicles driving towards Olympia Brown Elementary School, followed by a loud ‘boom.’
Officers with the Caledonia Police Department say they responded to the area of 5 ½ Mile Road and Novak Road in Caledonia to investigate the incident.
Pilot killed during small plane crash in Greenwood
After getting to the scene, officers learned that a vehicle had crashed through the exterior wall of Olympia Brown Elementary School. Officers say that after crashing through the wall, the vehicle continued through the classroom and caused damage to an adjacent classroom.
According to the release and subsequent body camera footage, the crash caused significant damage to the building and classrooms.

Officers stated that it was a single-vehicle crash where alcohol and speed were alleged factors in the crash.
Kaukauna police seek public’s help after suspicious incident
The driver, a 23-year-old man from Racine, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, among other violations.
“This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving,” said Chief of Police with the Caledonia Police Department, Christopher Botsch. “Driving under the influence of alcohol is not only illegal — it is a reckless decision that can have a lasting impact.”
No injuries were reported.
