GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Excitement and anticipation were in the air as nearly 60,000 fans packed Lambeau Field on Saturday night to watch the Packers practice at the 24th annual Family Night.
The annual tradition provided fans with an opportunity to watch the team practice under the lights at Lambeau Field in a game-day-like atmosphere a week before the preseason opener, rather than at Ray Nitschke Field. The event included family-friendly activities, such as kids making Packer signs in the concourse and jersey giveaways.
Packers head coach Matt Lafleur addressed the media on Friday before practice and said he would crank up the intensity for Family Night.
“We’ll do some live tackling. It is actually scheduled for the last period,” LaFleur said.
Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden showcased his skills on the grass at Lambeau Field for the first time. The 2025 first-round draft pick continues to impress at camp and has been the center of attention over the past two weeks. Packers quarterback Jordan Love connected with Golden on a few throws.
The quarterbacks were having fun during drills. Whenever one of their throws went into the net, they did a Lambeau Leap into the crowd.
Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine captured his fourth interception of camp. He is fighting for the number one cornerback spot.
The star of the night was Packers safety Omar Brown, who finished the night with three interceptions.
With week two of training camp in the books, the Green and Gold have six practices remaining and will host the New York Jets to kick off preseason play on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m.
