WILD ROSE, Wis. (WFRV) – The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is leading a death investigation following a pursuit that ended in a fatal shooting on Wednesday, August 6, in the Village of Wild Rose.
Authorities say the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office had attempted to contact an individual around 10:15 a.m. in the City of Wautoma regarding a welfare check. When a deputy initiated a traffic stop, the individual did not stop and continued driving northbound on State Highway 22.

According to a preliminary investigation, the individual eventually pulled into a parking lot near State Highway 22 and County Road A, where they sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

Officers attempted life-saving measures, and emergency medical services responded to the scene, but efforts were unsuccessful. No law enforcement officers or members of the public were injured.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office says all involved agencies are fully cooperating with the investigation. Once complete, the findings will be forwarded to the Waushara County District Attorney’s Office for review.
