GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Three people are without a home after an apartment fire Monday evening on Deckner Avenue in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says the fire broke out just before 8 p.m. in a first-floor apartment. Smoke was seen coming from a window when crews arrived.
Storm cleanup underway in Door County after record calls and power outages
Residents had evacuated after trying to put out the flames themselves. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the apartment where it started in under five minutes.
Smoke was vented from the building, and all residents were allowed to return except for the three people whose apartment was deemed unlivable.
WIS 42 remains closed in Sister Bay due to utility repairs
One firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for heat-related issues. The fire caused an estimated $7,500 in damage.
