The Latest from Storm Team 5…
A cold front moving from west to east across the state has flared up some thunderstorm activity this afternoon. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue this evening and while most of the storms will cause little harm, one or two could be come strong with a wind and hail threat.
Our rain and storm chance should come to an end around 9pm, before clear skies persist overnight. The front will take the muggy air with it, giving us a night to open up the windows with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.
However, the passage of the front means wildfire smoke will move in from the north on Wednesday morning and continue into the afternoon. The smoke will likely reach dangerous levels for all. While we do not have an Air Quality Alert, expect one to be issued sometime soon.
We will get a break from the humidity tomorrow as highs top out in the upper 70s with dew points around 60 under hazy sunshine.
An east to northeast wind overnight Wednesday should help to thin out the smoke ahead of Thursday. Some smoke will linger about, so calling for hazy sunshine again on Thursday with highs in the upper 70s and the humidity will climb slightly with dew points in the lower 60s.
Mostly sunny and muggy on Friday with highs in the low to mid 80s. Rain and storms will hold of until the night time of Friday. We will have to monitor the forecast for the weekend as a stationary boundary will bring rain and storm chance for the weekend and into Monday
