MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – The Manitowoc Police Department has identified the driver killed following a crash into a building on Tuesday as Alderman James Brey.

In the release, officers provided a brief statement: “Our deepest sympathies go out to Alderman Brey’s family and loved ones. Alderman Brey gave many years of service to the City of Manitowoc, for which we are all thankful.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on August 12 in the area of South 26th Street and Franklin Street.
Shawano Police investigating suspicious death on Mountain Bay Trail
Officers say the vehicle crashed into a building in the area, and Brey was pronounced dead. He was the only person in the vehicle.
