WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wrightstown Community School District has named its Interim Superintendent for the upcoming school year after months of turmoil surrounding the position.
Ron Saari had been suspended shortly after he took over the role from his predecessor, Andy Space, who handed in his resignation in December.
The newly appointed Interim Superintendent, James Smasal, was announced on Wednesday. The Board of Education plans to approve the appointment at a meeting on August 20.
According to the release, the Board had 10 candidates before narrowing to a couple of finalists. The following statement was released as well.
“Mr. Smasal brings to WCSD a strong background in district operations, a proven record of leadership, and a contagious enthusiasm for public education. Known for his passion for students, staff, and the community, Mr. Smasal is a vibrant leader who approaches his work with heart, humor, and energy. In fact, those who have worked with him in the past note it’s not uncommon to hear him singing through the school hallways – a testament to the positive spirit he brings to his role.
The Board is confident that Mr. Smasal will provide steady, student-centered leadership during this transitional year and serve as a bridge to the district’s next chapter. The Board plans to approve his appointment at the August 20, 2025, board meeting.”
