APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Dozens of employees put their snow-clearing skills to the test Thursday during the popular APWA Snowplow Roadeo at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton.
Organized by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Public Works Association, the event challenges participants on vehicle safety and operation, mechanical knowledge of snowplow equipment, and precision driving through a demanding obstacle course.

“Every year our DPW staff participate in the APWA Snowplow Roadeo and Salt Usage Training,” said Valerie Joosten, director of public works for the City of Green Bay. “This event promotes driver skill and safety, among other things.”
The 2025 event featured a newly redesigned driving course and a new backbone competition. The top two drivers in the state will advance to represent Wisconsin at the National Snowplow Roadeo in Loveland, Colorado, later in September.
